And a privileged resolution authorizing the Legislative Oversight Committee to hold public hearings to analyze the impact of Bill Stated Meeting March 2, 2017 No. 130457 on the diversity of corporate board seats throughout the City of Philadelphia.

An ordinance amending Chapter 10-200 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Ethnic Intimidation and Institutional Vandalism," to clarify and revise its scope and related penalties.

Thank you, Council President. I just have a brief statement to follow up with the bill that I recently introduced. With the legislation I Stated Meeting March 2, 2017 introduced today, I aim to take a clear and resolute stand against the vile acts of hate that took place in Mount Carmel Cemetery on February the 26th when police said as many as 100 gravestones of those of Jewish descent were desecrated. As a city, our hearts were broken as we read the stories of those families who drove to Mount Carmel unsure if their loved ones' final resting places had been spared the destruction. As a city, we grieve together with those families, outraged by the cowardice of the vandals and reaffirmed in our belief that Philadelphians must stand together against any acts of hate and intolerance. I aim with these proposed changes to clarify that under each of those gravestones was an individual deserving of respect and protection. With the support of my colleagues, this bill will classify each desecrated gravestone as a separate offense, to be Stated Meeting March 2, 2017 punished separately and to the full extent allowed by the state law as opposed to the possibility that mass vandalism and destruction could be punished as a single act. There is simply no place for anti-Semitism or any other type of hate in the City of Philadelphia, and I hope that this legislation will make the City's position clear to all those who would seek to intimidate our citizens. Thank you, Council President.

A resolution urging Congress to vote in favor of H.R. 922, the Rehabilitation of Historic Schools Act of 2017, which amends the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to allow rehabilitation expenditures for public school buildings to qualify for rehabilitation credit, which would help the School District of Philadelphia with addressing its nearly 12,000 outstanding repairs that total almost $5 billion.
