Madam President, I ask that City Council recognize and then welcome the five students from Mastbaum High School who are here today as the part of the District Council 47 program of Shadowing Day. Would they please stand.
Welcome. Are there speeches on the part of the Minority? (No response.)
Are there any speeches on the part of the Majority? The Chair recognizes Councilman Cohen.
I believe you indicated earlier that the hearing on the matter we were discussing yesterday was being continued --
Councilman, just a moment please. The noise level is much too high. Please speak into the microphone, Councilman.
Thank you. I understand that you stated that the hearing that dealt with the proposal for funds from the City that we dealt with yesterday was being continued until Wednesday, November 26th.
In view of the thrown about, about the perhaps coincidence, perhaps something much worse than that, involving a gift of $160,000 from the head of the company to Mayor Street during the month of October this year, I request the presence of that gentleman, the head of the company, the head of whatever the name of that company is that is seeking the money. And could we have that done, Madam President, so that he can answer directly the questions as to why he gave the gift and what the purposes were and whether there was any political aspect to the giving of the $160,000?
We will certainly make your request known to the individual, sir.
Well, the President will remember I asked whether or not he was present at the hearing yesterday, and he was not. That's the reason for the special request today.
Very well. We will certainly make your wishes known.
You're welcome. Are there any other speeches or comments on the part of the Majority? (No response.)
