You can punch them, kick them and take them home because we will be giving away, you know, the four bags to some lucky person who is in attendance. We will have demonstrations, matches and speakers. And Councilman Squilla wants to do a match? Okay. So they are -- they are going to be delivered. So everyone, two to twelve noon come to the courtyard. He has sat patiently throughout and just asks, as a matter of personal privilege, Mr. President, is he would be allowed to make his comments because nothing is written for him to give to the stenographer to put in the record.
Yes. I just want to say for the record, he did, in fact, sign up. But for whatever reason, his name wasn't called, so we don't set a precedent.

Thank you. Reverend Gregory Holston, the Executive Director for POWER and Senior Paster of James Memorial United Methodist Church here in the City of Philadelphia. And thank you for making that correction. Appreciate the whole Council moving quickly to do that. And I pray that we do that for everyone if that situation happens again. First, I wanted to be here for the bill referencing the -- that will be on the ballot that Councilwoman Parker has put forward, the resolution, the non-binding resolution regarding the minimum wage. The need to raise the minimum wage in the City of the Philadelphia is dire. It is -we are in an emergency situation. And we have been in an emergency situation for fifty years. The poverty level in the City of Philadelphia is intolerable. The 26 percent of people that live below the poverty line, but more importantly, about 70 percent of Philadelphians either are in deep poverty, in poverty, near poverty or low Stated Meeting March 14, 2019 income. 70 percent of the City. That means that almost everything we do has to be directed to lifting people out of poverty. And every mission and every calls and every bill we do has to do something about ending the incredible amounts of poverty in this City. Now, so as I stand looking forward to vote on that non-binding resolution to send the message to Harrisburg that we have to raise the minimum wage. But I also want to say that we cannot -- we cannot lift up wages. We cannot build new businesses. We cannot have new jobs at any cost. So, I stand also here in opposition of the plant that's being proposed by Philadelphia gas works in the southwest section of Philadelphia. I oppose it because of the -- of the quality of life, the asthma, all of the other health issues that arise from these kinds of plants. I have lived in South Philadelphia. I lived near these plants. I have had my own daughter have asthma for the first 12 years of her life. And it took -- and it took us leaving and moving out of the city for her to be able to have a life so that she can be able to breathe Stated Meeting March 14, 2019 each and every day. We are talking about toxic schools, but we have toxic communities. And we allow these toxic communities to continue to exist. I have buried too many people with special kinds of cancers. I have buried too many people who have -- friends of mine who have lived with these kinds of cancers. I have buried too many folk for health reasons in this City. It is not worth it to have that plant in South Philadelphia -- Southwest Philadelphia and poison those communities even more no matter how many jobs are involved, no matter how many pennies are on the dollars that come back to the City. It does not matter. The health of our children are more important than that plant. And I stand with those who stand against it, and we will continue to fight against that plant until all kinds of fossil fuel plants are no longer poisoning our children in this City of the Philadelphia. End poverty, yes; but not at any cost.
