And Dennis Lee said she was asking for this for rentals.
and I want to state the facts on that first
and then
Old Pal Street is a small street
and she's trying
to put a parking space
in her backyard
plus that's a no-no
plus you see there's no alley
there's no
her street is N Street, there's no alley
for the people that live on Reese Street
that's a blockage right there
you see where she had those two
there was no alley
if you need an alley for the people
how are the people going to get out
to the street to protect themselves
that's one thing
my concern
so here's
Ms. Buford here's the issue
are you for or against this project
excuse me
are you for the project
or against it
no I'm not for the project
that's all I'm asking
okay thank you very much
we appreciate your call
Mr. Chair can I respond to her
comments
I just want to make sure there's no one else in the audience
and then I'll give you the last response
Chair we have a call-in user
call-in user
can you please unmute yourself or wait for the chair
Hi could you state your name and spell for the court reporter
Call-in user
please unmute yourself
Hi, Tiffany Green, Concerned Scissor Point Breed, RCO.
Tiffany, could you spell your name for the court reporter?
T-I-S-S-A-N-Y, G-R-E-E-N.
Right. Do you swear or affirm to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?
Proceed.
Initially, back in 2012, we had this ordinance passed with no garages.
I know this is saying a driveway, but we didn't want her to run into the same situation that they have over in the graduate hospital area where a lot of parking spaces were taken up.
Although she's in the backyard driveway at this particular point, we've had others come through.
And it's just a situation at this point that we feel that there's no real reason for a variant or a unique or compelling situation at this point.
just to make, not to be inconsiderate, but she did at 1935 Reed Street.
The 17 bus runs 24 hours at night, and it drops you off right at 19th and Reed, and she lives 1935.
So the other thing is that the dimensions on this don't sound correct,
or either the refusal needs to be corrected in terms of the dimensions.
But I just wanted to say also that when she's back, it's very, like Ms. Buffett says,
It's very narrowing with the parking.
If she's backing up, it would be detrimental to other neighbors who do park on that block as well.
And we just – and like she said, also in the meeting, it was posed was the owner using it because she was elderly or she had a problem with walking,
and it was stated that it was only using for aesthetically or to rental profits or increase.
And at that particular point, most of the people in the meeting did not agree with that.
Thank you, Tiffany, for coming in.
Thank you very much.
Thank you.
Bye-bye.
Is there anyone else in the virtual audience?
Chair, I see no other hands at this time.
May I respond here?
You most certainly can.
I'd like to call my client back, Ms. Lutz.
And I'd like to share my screen again.
Ms. Lutz, please unmute yourself.
Okay, I'm here.
You've already been sworn.
Proceed.
Ms. Lutz, you were in the meeting with regard to this project, correct?
Correct.
Now, did you represent that you needed this parking space for rental?
So I currently have, my situation is that I bought that property in 2016.
I moved in with my fiance who lives on 20th and Ellsworth.
I moved in with my fiancee who lives on 20th and Ellsworth.
We have a two-year-old now and I'm pregnant and that home is much bigger.
So our plan is to move back into that property and having a young child or two young children
at that point, having that parking space would be very beneficial to us.
So that's where the confusion is coming in.
It's not for my tenant, it's for myself moving back in there.
working as a nurse and having two small children, that parking space, especially because I go into
the hospital 6.30 in the morning and get home very late at night. So parking, it would be really nice
to have that. I understand. So with regard to the dimensions of the space, would your space look
similar to this parking that is here across from you on Opal Street? Yes. All right. Now the
dimensions of what your space would be, according to the drawings, is that it would take up eight
feet going this way, and that would leave the additional space on this side. Is that correct?
Correct. And with regard to the other cars that are on the street that you, that, you know, in
your experience, when you've seen them going into their curb cuts, are they able to safely navigate
that? Yes. Thank you. I have nothing further with regard to Ms. Lutz. I would just like to
state, Mr. Chair and members of the board, Ms. Lutz has requested this variance, as she stated,
not because of the reasons that the members who came on the call were stating. They are
clearly, you know, concerned about things that
Our project would not create. First of all, we're taking a space off of the street. And not only that, there's a safe distance for Ms. Lutz to be able to drive into the space. They would leave a rear yard of more than nine feet based upon the plans.
I'm not sure why the refusal says zero because it's not taking up the entire yard. It's only
taking up eight feet across and 16 feet in length. So it would be sufficient to leave a rear yard
depth of nine feet. As we stated, there's a difficulty with parking in this area. It's like
checkers at times, I'm sure for many of the people who have to park in that area. And we're just
asking for a variance that would not create an undue burden on the community, nor create any
additional congestion. And for those reasons, we would ask that you grant the variance.
Thank you. Thank you very much. Ron Bednar, please. Planning.
This is Ron Bednar, City Planning. This property is indicated for residential use on the city plan,
given the site's physical circumstances. We have no objection to the granting of the
request adherence okay um we're waiting for tax clearance am i right yes mr chair also waiting
