Thank you very much. That completes our Calendar for today. Are there any speeches on part of the Minority? The Chair recognizes Minority Leader Kendra Brooks.
Thank you, Council President. Today I am introducing a resolution declaring October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in the City of Philadelphia. Next week I hope my Council colleagues will join me in wearing purple in honor of survivors of domestic violence and in memory of those who did not survive. I'm also co-introducing a resolution with Councilmember Landau to recognize this Friday, October 11th as National Coming Out Day in Philadelphia. For over 30 years National Coming Out Day has been a day to celebrate freedom and pride and to acknowledge the fear and discrimination that still exists and to show our support for the LGBTQ+ equality. Despite decades of progress, National Coming Out Day is just as important this year as the past. Last October I recognized National Coming Out Day in 2023. The ACLU was tracking 510 pieces of antiLGBTQ+ legislation, including right here in Pennsylvania. And this year the number has grown to 530 nationwide and bills here in Pennsylvania. Targeting queer and trans youth has been a popular campaign strategy this election season with hateful rhetoric that directly impacts the many young people who are struggling with bullying, depression and even thoughts of suicide. So this year just as years past, I am proud to cointroduce this resolution and to call on Philadelphians to join me in affirming and supporting the LGBTQ community. And lastly, on Saturday I will be hosting our Annual celebration. So any of my colleagues that are available to come out between 12:00 and 3:00, I'm celebrating my community with food and entertainment and a PlayStreet and all the resources that are available. So if you're available, please come by. Thank you, Council President. That's it.
You're welcome. The Chair recognizes Councilmember O'Rourke.
Thank you, Mr. President. There is another word from the Minority and today that word is light, light. Veritas --
