Well, you can empathize with these young guys here. They see guys like Eddie and go, "Wow, if I can be like Eddie. And I just want a fair shot." They're willing to work for it.
I've seen that also. 159 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 But everything that Eddie is speaking is the truth. Everything is run fairly. There's an even amount of cars given to each salver every day. Everything is done fairly.
And let's say something about the other people that were here, if I may, Councilman.
You have people from the insurance industry. You have people from Enterprise Rent A Car. You have some people that have horror stories. Not everybody's involved in the horror stories because there's just some bad apples in the barrel. But the people come to our facilities to claim cars come at a reasonable rate, they come in a secure environment, nobody gets gouged, there's no complaints. That's what I'm saying about being fair. Most of the guys that came up here and testified at one time or another have been in our places. And the way that the police run the program and License and Inspections, this program runs completely fair. There's no gouging. Nobody gets hurt. 160 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 There was a guy that talked here from AAA. If AAA had any issues about a car that was left at the scene of an accident and went someplace, if in the rotation system one of any of the rotaters, any of the vendors brought that car to their facilities, the guy would be treated fair. He would pay half the charges. He would pay less than half of the charges.
My thing here is -- this is why we get the big bucks to make these big decisions. This is a great idea, and this is going to happen one way or the other, but it's not going to happen probably the way Councilman Rizzo wants it today. We're going to work this out because we still have some people we want to talk to. But I need everybody -- the problem -- and Councilman Clarke said it. He left, but he's coming back. What happens is we go through all this work. And this is one of many things that we do. And I'm not complaining. But our staff, my legislative aid that just whispered in my ear, he's the guy that does all the 161 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 work. So you'll have somebody like that and he'll deal with your group or the other group and we get together. We think we come to some kind of conclusion, then all of a sudden, somebody throws a monkey wrench in the thing, "They don't represent us," just what Councilman Clarke said. So eventually somebody's going to leave here or the next hearing or the one after that with some hurt feelings. We're going to try to work this out, but not forever. There's a time limit on this calendar that's running. You guys can keep on talking. We're going to talk a little amongst ourselves. I still want to hear from you, but the important thing is -- and I want to hear from them guys, the guys that at least had the intestinal fortitude to stand up and say they were wreck-chasers. And guess what, we can all tell stories. I can tell a story about the other night I was at Front and Hunting Park and I saw a van turn over. And I was too small to jump in the back window because I'm short and couldn't get up. I'm jumping up. The tow truck shows up. The tow 162 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 truck driver got up and lifted me up so I could pull a family of six people out of a truck and he stayed there while the thing could have blew up. And he didn't get the tow. He didn't get that tow. Actually, he didn't get it. I never saw him again. Didn't know who he was. And it happens. There's good stories like the story one of the guys told. We have to get to a point where everybody's comfortable. Everybody's not going to be happy here. But I appreciate your experience and the stuff you do with the other program. This kind of legislation is the kind of legislation where we got to get this done. The clock is ticking. Any other witnesses want to talk at this panel? Then I want the guys that admitted to be wreck-chasers to see what a wreck-chaser really is. Go ahead.
Good afternoon, Councilman. My name is Joseph Trent. I'm the 163 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 President of the Southwest Auto Parts Association. We currently have approximately 60 members in our association which also employs four or five workers in each business.
Can you get me a fender for a '69 Caprice for the passenger side in the back?
I want to buy it. But I do need one. If anybody has one, please let me know. That's personal business.
As a matter of fact, a good majority of our membership have tow trucks and do towing for a living. We are in favor of Councilman Rizzo's bill because pricing is regulated and owners have say so of where the car will be towed and who it should be towed by. We're not here to put tow trucks out of business because, like I says, I represent a lot of tow drivers and tow companies in my association, but to give everyone a fair shake, as we believe the rotation system will do. And this bill we believe will also organize the towing 164 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 system. I would like to agree with Councilman Ramos that it should be fair but something also needs to be done. And we are also here to keep business in Philadelphia. At the last hearing that we were here, it was brought up how the outsiders were able to come to Philadelphia and we weren't able to go into their municipalities. And that's also a big major thing also.
My name is Richard Antonocci. I own Philadelphia Towing and Transport. I'm a licensed salver also. I also own Towing Unlimited. We've seen pros and cons for rotation, but we haven't seen any pros for against rotation. The rotation works as a process. The law works. It's a good law. People are saying they don't want to be disqualified, but they don't know what the qualifications are yet. But I do know at the end of the day, the ends have to justify the means. And that's what's most important for everybody. If you have thoughts and theories, 165 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 then say them, but we need a solution. And rotation is the solution. Thank you.
My name is Anthony Boyle, and as I said, I represent K&A Auto Salvage. I support the bill. And I also can understand why people are afraid of it. But just like Mr. Antonocci just said, they really don't know what they need to do to qualify because I myself, as I said, just got started. I didn't have any trucks. I now have two trucks of my own and I just recently got started. And I'm just here to say that this system is very fair. And I think once people get more informed about the procedures and everything that they'll be more for it. It's the fear of the unknown, you know.
I appreciate it. That's really good to come from someone that worked himself up. Anybody else?
My name is Joseph Parente. I own Morton Towing and Recovery. 166 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 Along with this bill, the values of this rotation works very well already with the stolen. And it does bring in revenue into the City of Philadelphia. And that can also be applied towards this accident-type rotation. We do bring in a good revenue to the City and I believe this can also bring in good revenue. And my company does support this bill.
Hi, Councilman. I'm Guido DiCicco from DiCicco's. I've been in business 27 years.
No relation to Councilman DiCicco, let everybody know that.
But you're not related to him. He said he likes you, but he doesn't want everybody to think you're his cousin.
I don't think so. I approve of this bill over here for Mr. Rizzo because the only City that doesn't have a rotation system. My wife had an accident 167 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 where I live at in Huntington Valley. I was there with the tow truck --
Listen, public speaking point: Never tell you don't live in the City even if you don't. I'm just trying to help you.
I'm down at the shop more than I'm home, so I'm living in the City. You can't tow a car out of the township. I was there with the tow truck. It happened on Street Road. I was there. She called me. I went up there, I can't get the car. They have a rotation towing. The police call a body shop, whatever they have.
No. Huntington Valley. They have certain shops, and they do have a lot of shops. It ain't like they have one or two. 168 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595
See, I don't go up there because if I go up on Street Road, I get a knows bleed. I don't go up there. Tell your wife not to go up there.
But it's good to have system in Philadelphia because it generates a lot of business. And other people could come on the system. We need more people on the system. And it will generate some money for the Philadelphia Police too. The way it's working out now, what does it generate, about a million dollars a year?
Recovery stolen vehicles. Let me just explain that, Guido, a minute,
Before the Police Department implemented this program, when an officer would find a stolen vehicle on a 169 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 street, they would disabled the vehicle and they, by message, would notify the owner. By the owner would get to the vehicle, the vehicle was either restolen or vandalized.
Can I tell you the classic story on this while you're saying this?
My father, God rest his soul, had a 1975 Nova Custom. I had no idea. Remember Peach Cheverelli? Some of the old-timers remember him. I knew Pete because his shop was next to where I live in Juniata. My father goes out and gets in an accident right by Front and Hunting Park. There's little street there to the left where the police tow squad is. I can't think of the street. UNIDENTIFIED SPEAKER: McAllister.
McAllister, that's it. So my dad goes -- the cops take him home. This is 15 years ago. He doesn't know, he's a little dazed. I'm sure he wasn't drinking. He probably never drank, but who 170 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 knows. He comes home and he finally doesn't know anybody. He calls his cousin that knows somebody and they get a tow truck. By the time the tow truck got up there, that thing was stripped. Now, the police tow truck came and moved it to the side of McAllister. Didn't know that they only made 500 NOva Customs that year until Pete Cheverelli told me that. That wouldn't have happened if they had what you do with stolen vehicles.
With this program here, what happens is -- and there's also a safety issue involved. Just say, for example, the person who owns the car lives in Voorhees, New Jersey, and it's recovered at 13tj and Diamond. You know, you don't want to send that person down in that area with a tow truck or by themselves to try to get the car.
Actually, I think if you live in Voorhees you should have to go to 13th and Diamond just once a week just to know what life is about.
Anyhow, the program is 171 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 designed for safety and it's designed to get the car off the street. So within minutes 4 with the geographic rotation system, it works. 5 Now, what happens is the insurance company now 6 gets a valuable commodity. They get a car 7 back in one piece. They could take that car, 8 they could either repair it or give it back to 9 the owner or -- 10
You're not 11 going to tell me the insurance prices are 12 going down, right? That never works. 13
The insurance company 14 made millions of dollars with our program. 15 I've always said in Council and I've said it 16 before, this is the spring board that we 17 should use to lower insurance costs in 18 Philadelphia because we do help. 19
We did that and 20 the insurance company said stuff. My insurance hasn't gone down. I don't know if anybody else's has.
But these programs do help and they help the insurance companies and they're going to help the constituents and the 172 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 people in Philadelphia eventually, because they do have to reduce the insurance rates for people in Philadelphia.
He had a point because the towing rate that we tow a car in, it ain't a lot of money. UNIDENTIFIED SPEAKER: (Inaudible.)
We're going to get -- you guys are next, because I've got to hear this stuff.
We tow a recovery theft for a hundred dollars plus $11 a day storage. Am I right? And 65 goes back to the City of Philadelphia. So that's generating money too.
Thank you. Any question for the panel? (No response.)
Let's go to the next panel. This is the young bucks now, I guess. Listen, they were like that one day, them guys. They were hungry just like you guys are. 173 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595
Basically a wreck-chaser wakes up in the morning. As soon as you wake up, you get your first shot of coffee. If you really want a really good detail, you know what I mean, get a crack at breakfast, turn on the scanners at 6 o'clock in the morning. I come out at 6:00. Other guys come out earlier or later. Once you head out the streets at 6 o'clock, we're waiting for the call. The call is, of course, southbound 95 or westbound Girard, as you were complaining earlier about us being up there. But at 6 o'clock in the 174 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 morning, you've got hundreds of people trying to come into the City and leave out the City. So westbound Girard is a hot spot. So a two-car hit ties up that three lane avenue, you're done. So who comes to save the day? Us, the wreck-chasers. For what? To keep getting this every time? They're salvage guys. We don't want nothing with salvage. We're wreck-chasers. We're dealing with individual hits. We're not dealing with theft recovery or no stolen or abandoned vehicles. We don't want to do no 14 Live Stop. That's not our gig, that's not what we're here for, sir. Our thing is to try to make an honest dollar. Every single body here, there's no drug addicts, dope fiends, ain't nobody selling nothing. We're selling ourselves to our people every single day. You think he's easy? Do you know how many times on 95 south or northbound I've had total losses where the people are looking at me saying, "I don't want to let go of my car." But you're tying up traffic two miles, you know what I mean. And the cop at that 175 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 point say, "Take the car. Hook it and get it off of my highway." So what are we supposed to do when the officers -- once again, the two that were over there sitting earlier explaining this rotation and everything. George don't come out there. How many times we've had to help them get these scenes cleared out, on the flip-overs on 95 hitting guardrails especially now with the new work area. You know what I mean.
Let me ask you this. What's the difference between -- I got a feeling you will tell me. I get an accident or the Councilwoman gets in an accident; who's the guys taking advantage of her but don't take advantage of me?
Somebody's taking advantage. I'm not saying it's you. Somebody's doing something. We had some examples here.
Not this table, not 176 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 these people, here, sir.
Quote/unquote, what you're saying, we guys are A selected few. UNIDENTIFIED SPEAKER: That's why we tried to start the association
Exactly. We tried to start the association to weed them out and to show people good faith. Listen, I'm Puerto Rican American, born and raised here in the United States of America. These gentlemen behind me are the same. We didn't fly in here nowhere. We got social security card. We pay our taxes. We got families to feed every day. Every single day -- I got a five-year-old daughter. I want to know what Mr. Rizzo wants me to tell my daughter. This morning, when I'm telling her every day since she's been born, "America is the greatest country in the freaking world" -- it's a part of my expression. "The greatest country in the world because we don't have to sit in a line for two weeks to wait on bread 177 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 and cheese. Daddy can make an honest living without putting a gun in his hand." You understand? What am I going to tell my daughter tonight when this bill goes in effect? And all I'm trying to do is make sure she has good schooling. This ain't for everybody, so get out of the business. This ain't for everybody, you know what I mean; get out the business. Again, we're not infringing on no 12 salvage or no theft recovery. We're here to perform a service. And in return, we'd like to get reimbursed. Whether or not -- it ain't as glorified as a lot of these people are saying, as Dr. Ralph came up here talking those percentages. Jesus Christ, if I had those percentages, I'd probably be living up there in Roxborough and have a million dollar shop myself. You know what I mean? Unfortunately, I drive '95 Blazer, so let's get this real. The money ain't all that great. But we live doing it because this is what we're good at. You understand what I'm saying? 178 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 And we basically listen to the hits every single day, and we perform a service. Yeah, in the beginning there was a lot of that scuffling and fighting and stuff like that. But it's over with. All of that is done and over with. How many times has an officer have to come to scene to break up a fight recently? In years. It's been a long time. Nobody out here is about that. Everybody has married, got homes, mortgages, car payments, families to feed. Don't nobody got no time to go to the emergency room, get stitched about no job. There's another one coming down the road. And we all trying to partner and work together. Mr. Mariano, we beg you, implore you, sir, to not give this bill a chance because it's kill not only myself and these people here, but everybody that's out on the streets. What are we going to do? Honestly, we are we going to do if we can't work doing our thing no more?
What do you say to these guys that say, look, you're fearing something that you don't need to fear because 179 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 it's unknown.
My name is David Wieckowski. There's hundred something tow 8 trucks licensed in Philadelphia, right? And 9 only 10 companies are on the theft recovery 10 and abandoned vehicles. I tried to get on 11 there, but you need a lot -- you've got to 12 have a junk yard basically in order to get on 13 there. You have to have a salvage yard. Now, 14 if you can't afford a junk yard, you can't do 15 their towing. 16 A friend of mine that is a salvager, 17 Shaw, calls me up. I pull cars out for him 18 once in a while. They give you tow for like 19 10, 15 miles, 30 bucks. My flatbed payment 20 alone and insurance is 20-somthing-hundred 21 dollars a month. I'd have to be towing 22 without sleeping every day. 23
You're not 24 telling me Mr. Shaw is cheap, you're telling 25 me you've got to hustle, right? 180 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595
I'm not saying he's cheap. What I'm saying is they're charging 75, they give you 30. They want to make money too. So it's not fair to everybody, to dictate for everybody can make money out of it. The way it is with freedom of enterprise and all, we all go out make our own money. Nobody can stop us. I mean, I remember when Mr. Richie over there from Towing Unlimited came here and started. He used to be Above All Towing. He came from New York and started here. Why? Because they got rotation in New York. He couldn't make it there. Now he came here, he got a salvage yard, he opened up. And he's with the rotation? Now he's in with that? (Applause.)
I've been doing this since 1986. You can check my driving record, anything you want. I got no reckless driving tickets, no speeding tickets, no 24 blowing stop signs, red lights or nothing. And as far as guys going the wrong way and 181 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 all, we're taxpayers. We pay a lot of money. This guy over here started truck enforcement. You got truck enforcement. I pull up to an accident scene, the first thing they tell me, "I want all your paperwork, license, registration, pull out your broom, your shovel, your fire extinguisher, your first aid kit. If I'm a tow guy, why do I need to carry a first aid kit? So they like us to be first on the scene in case we gotta help somebody. So why knock us for what we do? We're not hurting nobody. We're not beating nobody up. Fights haven't been since '92. I was here in '92. I was young then. I still remember it, but people ain't beating each other up every day. They ain't driving as recklessly as everybody's saying. I mean, once in a while, yeah, you do get a guy that wants to do something wrong and all. That's why started the association. That's why we came up with this idea to start this association, keep informed so we can be part of this and we can know what's going on in Council. 182 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 The only reason basically we found out with about this bill trying to be passed is because this guy printed it in the Inquirer. If he don't print it, we don't know nothing about it. You guys put it through, we're out of business.
Would you say he's the patron saint of the wreck-chaser?
A lot of people don't like him, but sometimes he prints --
Mr. Ferrick, I think that's worth a hundred thousand dollars more from your editor.
Listen. He is one-sided, though, he only prints the bad stuff. He don't print nothing good about us, but he prints the bad stuff but if it wasn't for him really, we wouldn't know about it.
He's got a lot of juice around. He should probably be a czar or something.
If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't even know about this. And the bill would have got passed, they would 183 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 have won. They don't tell us nothing.
The thing of it is also, Mr. Mariano, has Mr. Rizzo ever seen a person first impact with an airbag explosion and what happens to your face?
Listen, I want to sit here and not try to get into a debate with you, but we have police officers and paramedics that are supposed to be doing what you're doing. Thank God you've been there. But all I can tell you is that this isn't going to go away. And what you describe about the conduct -- I had a wreck-chaser come down the shoulder of the expressway about a month ago doing 60 miles an hour while traffic was dead stopped. If you consider that proper conduct --
No. That's why we're starting the association. We want a number, a 1-800 number for complaints for reckless driving. We can find them, give them a warning, next time they're out of the association, take their tow license from them.
Eventually we're 184 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 going to have rotation in this City. It might not happen today. It may happen two weeks from now. We're going to give you an opportunity to talk, but I can tell you it's got to get regulated. Wreck-chasing has been going on a long time in this City. And it's a bad situation when you've got trucks stopped on the wrong bound and drivers coming over the guardrail to try to be first at a wreck. It's a bad situation. And if you guys can clean it up, that's good.
We can clean it up. That's why we started the association.
My name is Albero Pena (ph). I'm a wreck-chaser. It's also a bad situation when you have some 4,000 tow truck drivers unemployed in this City. We pay our taxes. We have our business privileges licenses, a lot of us do.
There's no 4 question about that. My question is -- and I think if you describe the process. When a person's involved and have an airbag deployment and you're putting a piece of paper in front of them while the blood's coming down their forehead asking them to sign a piece of paper that authorizes you to do the tow, and then in the fine print --
One of respond and give your name. What happens here is the stenographer has to write this all down, so she has to know who's talking. So if you're new, state your name.
Arnold White, and I'm a wreck-chaser. Back in '94 I had an opportunity to meet you at Ed's Texaco over at Ogontz and Washington Lane, Mr. Rizzo. I worked there for a number of years. And you were asking the reason I became a wreck-chaser. Because you told me then that 186 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 it's all about enterprise. You told me a story one time when you used pay somebody to actually push the carts back to the shopping center right across the street and you would get 5 cent cut off of that. So I learned from you. I learn one thing from you. If I didn't learn anything, I learned that from you. This morning, just as a matter of fact, I start my night at 1 o'clock morning. I go 1:00 in the morning until 1:00 in the afternoon, just so you know. Eight o'clock there was an accident at Roberts and Wissahickon. A lady had glass in her head, still stuck in her head. I didn't push a towing agreement in her face. I didn't even tow her car and get paid it. I gave her a piece of gauze. I pulled her car to the side and didn't charge her a coin. So everything you're saying -- I mean, sometimes you're being very stereotypical about what you're saying. I'm wreck-chaser. I'm very proud to be a wreck-chaser. I've been doing it for a number of years. I provide a public service. That's 187 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 what I do. Just so you understand.
Could we do possibly something like this. Could I get -- and this is serious. I've got to ask him, but maybe he could do it with you some night and see what it's like. Would you be willing to do something like that? I'm not trying to put you on the spot. I think we got to see what's going on. Because what happens is he's under the impression that there's a big deal going down and there's all this bad stuff going on. And we've been hearing these stories, and they happen and somebody's doing them. You happen to be -- let me tell you a secret. Never cut a politician short, especially when it's got the microphone. It's like a dog and bone; I'll bite your arm off. He believes this. I know him; he's a fair guy. He believes this. He doesn't do this because -- there's nothing in it for him. He might get a little recognition and maybe a story, but he don't play that. He's doing this because he really believes that there's 188 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 something wrong. Now, you guys have enough stones to come here and say you're wreck-chasers. You may not be the six or seven that do it, but there's six or seven or maybe more out there that do it. The message has to go out to these guys that this is happening here, regardless of what I do. It's not going to happen today. I got something going on. I'm trying to work something out, but my colleagues are telling me that they're in favor of it but they're alarmed by some things. We need to be more involved because we don't want to give everything to the Police Department, but something has to changed. Now, what we're going to do is you guys are still going to get to speak. We're going to come back here and do this again at the end of this month, if I can talk him into this. We're going to have so many meetings. You guys are going to have to come up with some ideas and get involved in this process. And then you're going to have to decide what you want to do at the end. We can protect you 189 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 for so long, but you got to see the way it's going. And guess what? Most of you guys live in my district, and I'm being straight out with you, just so you know. You got to be straight. I'd rather tell you the truth and then -- same with him and her and the rest of these Council People and maybe disappoint you than lie to you. As men, we've got to do that. Councilwoman Brown.
I need to say that I appreciate the testimony of these gentlemen. We needed to hear all sides of this issue, and you presented another perspective that needed to hear as a member of this Committee. I need to underscore the Chairman has said. We need to have your input in the ultimate final picture of this bill, because we're going to end up with something. We have responsibility to do something that's responsible, that's fair, that honors wreck-chasers who are contributing to the tax 190 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 base as well as citizens who have been unfairly dealt with. So I need to underscore his recommendation that we use some time to work with the sponsor of the bill and give you a chance to offer up ideas you have to make the bill the best it can be. It's not going to go away. It just isn't. So the process requires us to give everyone a voice and contribute to the ultimate language in this bill.
The thing of it is that the regulation you're trying to impose, can we at least be regulated by people who are in the industry or quote/unquote know the industry, know what we go through every single day? Police officers, all due respect. Love them to death, but they don't know what we go through every day. And every day we come up to a scene --
You said to let Rizzo ride with us. I started part of this 191 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 association here and I've been talking to people. I heard years ago in Germantown he used to wreck-chase. I heard years ago he used to wreck-chase in Germantown.
Listen, he's a little shy. He's done a lot of things he's not going admit on the floor here today; let me tell you that.
He used to blow the lights and run stop signs himself. I did a lot of my homework on this. To answer your thing, how you said it's not for us to race there, it's police's job and the paramedic's job to help people, sometimes cops are tied up chasing a bank robber. I chase in Center City. There's bank robbers all day long. Sometimes they're chasing bank robbers and all. People are stuck in the accident. Nobody's there to call the ambulance. We just happen to be passing by or going on 676 or sitting there at one the good locations where the accidents happen, we see it, we call 911. We help these people.
Can I just ask 192 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 you all this? We can talk still. But if this doesn't work out the way you want, the last things I want you to walk away. We're going to have some meetings. I want one of you guys or two of you guys to come.
I'll be here. It's my life. I got a company, and it's my life.
And some of them guys are going to be her, somebody from the police department. We're going to get this to a point where this happens. You guys okay with all of that? You got my word on that. Anybody else want to say anything? We're going to come back October 20th.
I just want to remind the Panel that we're the little guys here and this is our bread and butter.
Albero Pena. And I'd just like to leave with this. We're the little guys here. This is our bread and butter. This is our living. And we are 193 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 taxpayers in the City of Philadelphia.
This is the one time we can honestly say we are the minority and it ain't got nothing to do with our color. You know what I mean? In all honesty, we are the minority out here. We can't deal with the big junk yards. We're not trying to go after that gig.
From a guy that's actually the minority on the street, I hear you. So we're going to come back here October 28th at 2 o'clock. Now, what we're going to do is Mr. Lisko and the Councilman's aid are going to set up some meetings. It's going to probably be one or two week for the next couple weeks. I don't want seven guys from each group. I want two guys that are leaders from each group come and let's work this out because the world is not about everybody getting what they want all the time. But this has gone on too, too far. But again, on my personal, I 194 10/12/04 - L&I - BILL 040595 appreciate you guys' honesty. This country is about guys like you hustling, so don't ever stop. But sometimes you get to the point where you deserve a piece of the economic pie too, you really do. It might not have to be with you out there hours a day knocking 8 your socks off. There's a way, believe me. 9 This is adjourned. It's going to be 10 continued to October 28th at 2 o'clock. 11 (Council adjourned at 5:25 p.m.) 12 - - - - 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 195 C E R T I F I C A T I O N I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing proceedings of the Council of the City of Philadelphia of Tuesday, October 12, 2004, were reported fully and accurately by me, and that this is a correct transcript of the same.
