Thank you, Council President. I just wanted to take this opportunity to call to everyone's attention the handout that's on our desk, because I think we need to pay attention to these costs. And you know what I'm going to speak to, and, that is, that in this handout, the second page -- and I'm not addressing the L&I bill in particular. I'm addressing the costs in general. In this handout, it clearly shows that for every dollar of wages we pay in the City, we pay 87 percent in fringe benefits and 37 percent in indirect costs. So to break it down, for every dollar of wages, we're paying $1.24 in addition. For every $50,000 job we hire, we're adding $62,000. That's 112,000. That's not healthy. The private sector is 31 to 32 percent. We're 124 percent. That is -- we are doomed if we go down this path. When you look at the Five Year Stated Meeting March 30, 2017 3/30/17 - STATED - 2ND READING Plan, as we pointed out the other day, I believe we get just in the fringe benefits, we're at 91 percent. We need to stop spending money, especially hiring people, and we need to become more efficient with the use of technology. This is a big concern. Big. Thank you.
