I would ask to please speak on this bill prior to the vote.
Okay, thank you, Madam President. Today, we are at that moment with this Bill No. 110002. On January 27, 2011, Councilman Brian O'Neill and I introduced this bill. And on March 9th, the hearing on the bill was held in the Committee on Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs. The amended version of the bill was subsequently reported out of committee with a favorable recommendation. This bill intends to protect 13 percent of the total land in Philadelphia overseen by the Department of Parks and Recreation by establishing criteria governing its disposition, and ensures that future development in our city do not result in any net loss of public land and recreation land. I would like to say thank you to the Parks and Recreation Commissioners and all of the stakeholders that have been a part of this continuing, ongoing dialogue since the unprecedented merger 4.14.11 STATED - FINAL-PASSAGE CALENDAR of our parks system. I also want to acknowledge and say thank you to Councilman Darrell Clarke, Councilman Brian O'Neill, Mayor Nutter, Nancy Goldenberg, and all of stakeholders who have been on multiple sides of this issue. Regardless of which opinions have been advocated for, argued, or debated, the common thread was to protect the diverse park system we all share. Therefore, Madam President, I'm asking for the support of all of my colleagues as we move to act on Bill No. 110002. Thank you, Madam President.
Thank you. The Chief Clerk will please call the roll.
