Councilmember Squilla, would you like to speak or you don't have to call up the bill. Do you want to speak?
All right. This bill having been read on two different days, the question -
Let me -- all right. Thank you, Mr. President. The process for this Arena legislation has been difficult for all Councilmembers. The time we all spent meeting with stakeholders and our discussions among one another have led to companion legislation and amendments to the CBA. The input from all the Councilmembers were 12/19/24 - STATED - 2ND READING invaluable during this process. Again, like we stated has been difficult for myself and others during the process. I want to thank you as the Council President and your leadership, Mayor Parker for a willingness to compromise and support changes made to the legislation and the CBA. The willingness to do that was important in order to have the legislation before us. The additional resources she provided desperately needed for affordable housing is something to help preserve the cultural and heritage of Chinatown. I want to say if this Arena legislation is to move forward and the arena is to be built, this is not the end of the process. I will continue and we will continue to meet with all the 12/19/24 - STATED - 2ND READING stakeholders, especially the Chinatown and Wash West communities, and to understand their budget requests and needs as this process moves forward. So again, thank you for your time and your efforts. The line of communications will remain open and we will continue to meet with all the stakeholders. Thank you so much.
